Pirosh, Robert. (English Language Translation of the Script in French By Rene Clair) LE SILENCE EST D' OR. (BRITISH TITLE: "SILENCE IS GOLDEN." AMERICAN TITLE: "MAN ABOUT TOWN.") NP R.K.O. 1947 Robert Pirosh's own leatherbound original SCRIPTS. 2 volumes. Screenwriter Pirosh translated the French on facing pages into English for the American release of Clair's film starring Maurice Chevalier, Francois Perier & Marcelle Derrien. The text is rife with holograph notations & corrections. Pirosh has SIGNED the title pages on both volumes. As with all Pirosh's personal copies his name & titles are stamped in gold. The leather edges are worn & chaffed on both volumes, while the text remains unaffected. 2 b&w 31/2"X4 1/2" on-set photographs accompany the text. There is 1 b&w 8"X10" photograph of Pirosh & Chevalier, seen wearing a heavy black evening coat & top hat, chatting on-set. The association between Rene Clair & Robert Pirosh began when the French director hired him to write the script for his delightful comedy "I Married A Witch" in 1942. This copy with its prolific corrections presents a unique opportunity to examine the collaboration between translator and world class director. Price:
