High quality PHOTOGRAPH of silent film star John Gilbert. (10 1/4 X 13 1/2) The white margins are trimmed, and the photo is attached to a heavy card backing, having been removed from the album of silent film star Carmel Myers. Though present, the bottom righthand corner, approximately a bit smaller than a dime, has been separated, but appears only to be a circular tear. Apart from that, there is only a thin slightly more than 1/4"-inch scratch on the actor's cheek which should prove no problem to clean-up in the hands of an expert restorationist. A strikingly evocative portrait of the great leading man, seen wearing his smoking jacket, cigarette in one hand, book in the other. Though no attribution is present, it is likely the work of M.G.M. studio photographer Ruth Harriet Louise.
